Hong Kong elevated its typhoon signal to No. 3 as Nangka heads for southern China after sweeping across the Philippines.

The odds of the CWB making sea and land warnings remain low, said officials.

Despite Nangka's westward drift, the effects of its lingering peripheral impact will still be felt across the nation, bringing scattered rain, lightning or thundershowers to all regions this afternoon, as well as to neighboring offshore islands.

Some areas should expect to see more heavy rainfall, noted CWB officials.

Nangka was located 270 kilometers south of Dongsha island at 4 p.m. as of yesterday, veering in a north-northwesterly direction, said officials.

The bureau advised the public to anticipate similar weather forecasts for the coming few days.

In related news, Chen Shen-hsien, director of the Water Resources Agency, said that the water level in the Shimen Reservoir has reached 229 meters, approaching the upper boundary.

Chen predicted that precipitation brought along by Nangka will continue to replenish supply, stamping out previous fears of a summer water supply deficiency.
