TAOYUAN, Taiwan -- A shelter for homeless dogs and cats in Taoyuan was attacked by what was thought to be a pack of violent teenagers early yesterday morning. Two dogs were injured and burnt with fire, while another was seriously hurt. The shelter, run by a woman known as 'big sister Chu', housed eighteen dogs and two cats.

The deceased dogs had been dead for less than twelve hours when the woman discovered them. County Councilor Huang Yuan-ju called on the police to solve the case as soon as possible.

Chu discovered the carnage in the early hours of yesterday morning when she went to the shelter to bring the animals food.

The two deceased dogs had been slashed by a knife multiple times, and were almost burnt beyond recognition. The injured dog had been seriously injured by a knife.
