At its commencement, Nanhua University, in Chiayi County, conferred a master's degree to Chao Mu-he, who had completed a two-year graduate program on philosophy, the CNA said.

The elderly Chao from Kaohsiung decided to enroll in the program only with the intention to convince a friend's children of the importance of education, the CNA said.
