Changhua anti-smoking blog design contest begins CHANGHUA, Taiwan -- The Changhua county government in central Taiwan has launched a blog design contest on tobacco prevention among senior high school students to promote a non-smoking campus environment, a local official said yesterday. The contest has been designed to familiarize students with the newly amended Tobacco Hazard Control Act, which prohibits smoking in schools at senior high level and below. The act will go into effect next January, the official said. The official invited both senior high and vocational school students to participate in the contest, saying that the activity is a platform from which the students can convey their ideas about the hazards of tobacco. The students can also set up team blogs, with each school class being one team, via the activity Web site. Each team will be required to write at least seven articles of at least 30 words each discussing smoking prevention before Nov. 28, the official went on. |
