The newspaper received 866 valid responses to its telephone survey on how to use the NT$3,600 worth of consumption vouchers to be granted by the government in mid-January.

It was also found that 8.19 percent of the polled said they would use the coupons to purchase 3C (computer, communications and consumer electronics) products, followed by 4.33 percent for having big meals or go window-shopping, 2.22 percent for buying gold and jewelry. 1.99 percent for purchasing cosmetics and health-care products, and 1.99 percent for donating the coupons to social welfare charity organizations. But some people wanted to enjoy the pleasure of "randomly spending" the "god-sent money."

Miss Wang, now an accounting clerk at a company, said that she will spend the "money" to purchase luxurious items which she won't buy at usual time.

Some plan to buy cameras, handsets, hand-held gaming machines, but some others will donate the coupons to school children from poor families to improve their meals or charity organizations.
