Taipei -- It is hard to imagine the taste of chocolate being mixed with sakura shrimps. However, the "Sakura shrimp chocolate" has been born as the specialty of Dapong bay (Tung Kang).

2008 Taiwan Culinary Exhibition- Dapong Bay Coastal Scenes & Cuisines will be held from August 15-18 at Taipei World Trade Center- Section A. The Dapong Bay Scenic Area Administration introduced 90 cuisines yesterday that were derived from four scenic spots of Southern Taiwan -- Dapong Bay, Liouciou, Suhjiongsi, and Heng chan Peninsula.

Minister of Dapong Bay Scenic Area Administration, Hsu Cheng-hsiuing, said there were approximately 70 restaurants that registered to take part in this year show, but the officials only selected the 14 most remarkable restaurants. These restaurants are all capable of cooking innovative and delicious meals that integrate foods such as blue fin tuna, onion, sakura shrimps, salty duck eggs with the features and landscape of these famous scenic spots.

Additionally, the organizer of Dapong Bay Coastal Scenes & Cuisines, Chen Cheng-chung taught people how to utilize onions to cook five different dishes, all of which costing only NT$194. He emphasized that while the price of most vegetables will be much higher due to the effect of the typhoons, the price of root and stem vegetables, such as onion, will remain comparatively stable.
