Crowds of patients suffering diabetes, pulmonary tuberculosis, malaria, and dysentery arrived from nearby regions at a police station square in Swaziland's Kaphunga to seek treatment from members of the Taiwan Root Medical Peace Corps (TRMPC).

The charity, founded in 1995, is a private, non-sectarian, and non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life by providing medical services and health education at home and abroad.

Describing Kaphunga as a poverty-stricken area, Swaziland's Health and Social Welfare Minister Njabulo Mabuza said that local residents might never be able to go to hospitals.

Mabuza expressed appreciation to Taiwan's ambassador to Swaziland Leonard Chao for helping to organize the charitable service.

For his part, Chao said that such a medical service is another way for Taiwan to expand its assistance to the African nation, while lauding the efforts of the charity's medical workers.
