China willing to hold talks on yuan, ministry says

BEIJING -- China’s foreign ministry said it’s willing to discuss the yuan with European Union officials, who have complained the currency is too weak. “We are willing to hold dialogue with the EU on this topic,” Liu Jianchao, a spokesman for the Foreign Ministry, told reporters in Beijing “We realize the U.S. and the E.U. are concerned about this topic.” The yuan last traded at 7.5045 versus the dollar as of 4:09 p.m. in Shanghai and 10.6532 against the euro.
