Wang Chien-ming returns today

The season debut of Taiwan’s New York Yankees pitcher Wang Chien-ming will be shown on giant television screens set up at Taipei’s Living Mall and sixteen McDonald’s restaurants across the island.

Wang’s first trip to the mound after suffering a leg injury in the preseason is scheduled to take place at 7 a.m. today Taiwan time.

Sports cable television company ESPN will set up a 300-inch screen and two 180-inch screens at the bottom floor of the Living Mall on Pateh Road.

An ESPN spokesman said that the space at the mall can hold up to 1,500 people, and the first 100 viewers can receive a free breakfast.

Also, McDonald’s will set up 80-inch televisions at sixteen of its restaurants across Taiwan, including locations in Taipei, Taichung, and Kaohsiung showing Wang’s game.

Wang will pitch against the Tampa Bay Devil Rays carrying a 3-0 record against the team last season.
