Shrek Forever After (史瑞克快樂4神仙)The jokes do tend to be out of the same barrel as the previous films, but maybe just a little dryer. Puss is “Cat”astrophic, while Donkey is Re“donk”ulous. The film continues to imbue the same magical humor, yet it does feel a little old and overworked as though we've heard it before in a far far away distant memory. The movie still has something to offer parents as well as children. It's not the “Shrek” it used to be, yet if you're a fan then it's still worth a watch. Older fans of “Shrek” will ultimately be disappointed if they expect the 3-D elements to improve the visual stimulus; this one is surely aimed at the younger audiences. Although the days of 2-D animations may be numbered, there's still a lot of appeal for them, and until 3-D becomes a tried-and-tested benchmark it will always be an addition to a film, never the foundation. “Shrek Forever After” will probably prove more of a seller on DVD or Bluray, but for cinema showings I'd personally wait for “Toy Story 3” coming out this summer. I wouldn't be surprised to see a further “Shrek” installment in … let's say three year. Maybe it will be titled “Shrek to the Future: This Really is the Final Chapter!” With the demand for ever-improving visuals, this may finally be the time to lay the green beast to rest, to live happily ever after.
