Swissray Global Healthcare established in Taiwan

TAIPEI, Taiwan --Taipei Medical University (TMU) Chairman Lee Tsu-der (李祖德) yesterday announced the founding of Swissray Global Healthcare Holding Limited (Swissray) in Taiwan, in collaboration with the government's policy of "One Alliance for one Medical Device."

Lee, who is also the chairman of Swissray, successfully finalized the acquisition proposal with the former owner of the Swissray Group, which consists of fully owned subsidiaries including Swissray International in the U.S., Swissray Medical AG in Switzerland, and Swissray Asia in Taiwan, with help from the CHC Group Chairman Lee Pei-ling and Ambassador to the WTO Lin Yi-fu in 2011.

Lee said that there has been a dramatic increase in demand for X-ray systems globally, especially in Asia, so Swissray funding will help integrate the research capabilities and market channels of Switzerland, the United States and Taiwan.

"Swissray is going to elevate the medical technology industry by leveraging the strengths of its new-found partners in academia, government, industry and research groups," Lee said, "creating a complete supply chain and manufacturing alliance to bring Taiwan's technology and innovation to the world."

Swissray Chief Executive Officer Jack Lee (李典忠) also said that it is important for Taiwan to promote its medical products and industry to the world through this opportunity.

"Through the globally recognized brand, Swissray, it will pave the way for us to introduce Taiwan's medical production and research capabilities to the global market, especially to the fast-growing Chinese and Southeast Asia markets," said Jack Lee.

"This deal was not only a great business success," Jack Lee said, "but it also represents a major milestone signifying the elevation and globalization of Taiwan's medical industry."

Lee Tsu-der, who has been serving as a board member of Taipei Medical University for 18 years, said that he has came to understand the value of global brands and channels, and the critical weakness of brand awareness of industries and products in Taiwan.

"CHC Chairman Lee Pei-ling and I worked together to commence a series of analyses on marketing and acquisition strategies," Lee Tsu-der said, "and with the help of Ambassador Lin and the government's support, we were able to be one step ahead of (parties in China and Singapore) in finalizing this acquisition."
