Classy & luxurious is the forecast for new dress accessories
By Maria Fiedler, dpaBERLIN--If you like wearing opulent accessories then this northern winter's fashion collections will provide that extra touch of sparkle you may be craving. After the summer's colorful fashions, the elegant look is returning for the cold season in Europe.

Finely made gloves, handbags with semi-precious stones and big bracelets will provide that touch of class.
“The autumn/winter clothes collections are less brash and colorful. But to prevent things from getting too grey you will need to pep things up with some bright accessories,” says personal shopper Simone Piskol.
Piskol says the trends include accessories in gold, bronze and copper tones. Many accessories are decorated with artificial fur, semi-precious stones and sequins.
“But you must make sure the quality is high and don't overdo things. Otherwise everything can quickly end up looking cheap,” says stylist Maria Hans.
Another trend to watch out in the months to come is size. Everything must be big.
“Earrings need to be conspicuous. Some earrings are so big that the person wearing them will end up feeling like royalty,” says shopping advisor Sonja Grau. Bracelets are also going to be big and brash.
“Several of the opulent looking bracelets are actually made of many single bracelets bunched together,” says Grau. The same principle applies to necklaces: lots of necklaces of different lengths hung together.
When it comes to accessories made from materials like scarves and wooly hats, Piskol says luxurious green tones like emerald and turquoise will be in fashion in Europe's snow. Dark berry tones and shades of Bordeaux are also turning up in collections.
Hans also thinks hats will be a big feature this winter.
“Short brimmed hats help to give a modern touch and they look very elegant with an overcoat.”
A great way to stand out from the crowd is to wear an ostentatious pair of gloves, according to Grau.
“Gloves with long tassels, elegant sequins or sparkling rhinestones are hard to overlook.” Very long gloves are another feature that's sure to attract attention or gloves made from high quality materials like nappa or suede.
Martin Wuttke, a fashion analyst for leather goods in Germany, says he believes bags are going to undergo a revival this year.
“Black is back in fashion after this summer's over-indulgence in colour. Things are going to be a little darker.”
Wuttke says emerald, deep violet and amber red are among the trend colours to watch out for. “A lot of next season's bags are combining those colours with decorative elements like fur applications, rivets or large semi-precious stones,” he says.
Wuttke says there is one trend from summer that looks set to continue: “There are going to be a lot of accessories made from mixed materials. High tech materials like neoprene, nylon and reflective metal or transparent plastic are being combined with natural leather.”
A lot of these bags are in flat, geometric shapes that contrast to conventional bag models.
