Updated Monday, November 9, 2009 9:39 am TWN, The China Post news staff Black-faced spoonbills arrive in record numbersThe conservation groups in Tainan City and Tainan County work together to track the population of these migratory birds in local areas every year from October to April. With sightings of 1,075 in Cigu Township and 144 in Sihcao Township, 68 more of these endangered birds have flown to Tainan this year than last year, according to the Black-faced Spoonbill Conservation Center (BSCC). The strong cold front of last week forced the black-faced spoonbills that were struggling in the north, to migrate south, BSCC said, adding that for bird lovers who want to have a peek at these beautiful fowls, now is the perfect time.
