Qatar publishes demands made by Arab countries

DOHA -- Qatar confirmed Saturday demands communicated by four Arab states that cut ties with Doha this month over the country's alleged support for terrorism.

According to a release from the Qatar News Agency, the 13 "collective demands" were initially received on Thursday.

The first demand asks Doha to cut its diplomatic ties with Iran and close its diplomatic missions there.

The list also calls on Qatar to close the Turkish military base that is currently under construction in Qatar as well as sever ties to all terrorist, sectarian and ideological organizations including the Muslim Brotherhood, Islamic State, al-Qaeda, Jabhat Fath al-Sham (formerly al-Nusra Front) and Lebanon's Shiite Hezbollah movement.

The demands state that Qatar should stop all forms of Qatari funding of any terrorist or extremist individuals, entities or organizations and extradite all terrorist individuals wanted by Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt.

Among the demands is also a request to shut down the Doha-based Al-Jazeera broadcasting channel and its affiliate stations, as well as other media outlets "supported by Qatar."

The demands call on Qatar to "stop interfering in the internal affairs and foreign interests of other countries" and also to pay reparations to the victims and compensate for all the losses incurred by the four countries "as a result of Qatar's policies in the past years."

In addition, the document states that Qatar should agree to all the demands within 10 days of their submission, otherwise the list would be considered invalid.

On June 5, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Bahrain and Egypt severed diplomatic ties and transportation with Qatar, accusing it of supporting terrorism, a charge which Doha has denied.
