Merkel expands lead but voters in Germany bored
AFPBERLIN--German Chancellor Angela Merkel's center-right coalition expanded its lead a month ahead of a general election, according to a poll published Wednesday that also pointed to stark voter apathy.

The survey by independent opinion research institute Forsa showed Merkel's conservatives and their pro-business partners, the Free Democrats (FDP), with a combined total of 47 percent, up two points from last week with enough to win re-election.
The leftist opposition parties taken together were four points behind, scoring 43 percent with just four and half weeks to go until election day September 22.
But Germans told pollsters they were bored by the campaign between Merkel and her gaffe-prone chief rival, Peer Steinbrueck of the Social Democrats.
