78-year-old UK man jailed over child sexual offenses

LONDON--A British man has been jailed for child sex offenses dating back more than half a century.

The 78-year-old retiree, Reginald Davies, was convicted of 13 offenses against four girls, including the rape of one under the age of 12. Davies was sentenced to 11 years in prison in London on Friday.

The crimes took place between 1949 and 1973, and police said the case appeared to involve the oldest charges ever heard in a British court.
