N. Ireland police arrest 2 over killings of soldiers

BELFAST, Northern Ireland -- Police say they have arrested a man and woman on suspicion of involvement in the dissident Irish Republican Army slaying of two British soldiers in March.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland says the 39-year-old man and 46-year-old woman were detained Tuesday at two separate homes and are being held at the police force's interrogation center west of Belfast.

Two men have already been charged with the murder of the two soldiers, who were raked with assault rifle fire as they collected pizzas at the entrance of their army base on March 7. It was the first fatal shooting of British security forces in Northern Ireland since 1998, the year of the territory's peace accord.
