Car bombing kills one in Spain; separatists blamed

MADRID, Spain -- Spanish police say a car bombing by Basque separatists has killed a policeman and wounded three others. The Basque regional police say a van packed with explosives detonated outside a Civil Guard barracks in the town of Legutiano before dawn.

Police blame the attack on the militant Basque separatist group ETA. A police official said there was no warning call prior to the attack on Wednesday morning and the explosion was powerful. ETA often phones in warnings before it strikes.
