Six military staff get life sentences in ArgentinaAFP BUENOS AIRES -- Six members of Argentina's military staff were sentenced Monday to life prison terms for crimes against humanity during the country's 1976-1983 military regime.
October 3, 2012, 11:31 am TWN The officers sentenced in Mar del Plata were ex-General Alfredo Manuel Arrillaga; ex-Colonels Leandro Edgar Marquiegui, Eduardo Jorge Blanco and Jorge Luis Toccalino; ex-Commodore Ernesto Alejandro Agustoni and ex-Vice Commodore Jose Carmen Beccio, the Justice News Center said on its website. Their trial stemmed from the deaths of 85 people at a police facility in the city of Mar del Plata, a secret detention center nicknamed “the Cave,” and at police facilities in Necochea.
