US university president quits after hazing scandalAP TALLAHASSEE, Florida -- The president of Florida A&M University resigned Wednesday, the same day the school was sued by parents of a drum major who died after being beaten by fellow band members in a hazing ritual. It was unclear if the two events were related.
July 13, 2012, 11:41 am TWN Robert Champion's death put a spotlight on the controversial new-member rituals among some of the country's top college marching bands, which have performed at presidential inaugurations and Super Bowls and can be just as competitive as the sports teams they accompany.
