U.S. firm recalls Chinese-made toy rocketsThe privately-owned company told the safety agency it received several reports of the rocket’s nose and parachute failing to release and 25 reports of the retainer ring being lost during the flight. One person was injured and required surgery after being struck in the arm, the safety agency said. Manufactured in China, the 13.5-inch-long (34-cm-long) rockets were sold at hobby shops and other retail stores around the United States between June 2005 and July 2007. The black-and-yellow rockets were sold individually and as part of a starter kit for $16 to $36, the safety agency said on Friday. Consumers can contact the company at www.estesrockets.com to get more information or a replacement rocket. | |||||||||||||
