No injuries reported in Dubai port fire

A fire broke out early Monday in a warehouse housing industrial chemicals at Dubai’s Jebel Ali port, sending plumes of thick black smoke into the sky. A police officer at port said no one was injured in the fire, which broke out around 4 a.m. (midnight GMT). A port official said the fire did not affect shipping and handling at the busy port. Both officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the media.

The cause of the fire at the of 8,000 square-meter warehouse was under investigation Monday afternoon. About 30 firefighters rushed to the scene Monday before dawn.
