In addition, Japan's SOLONE nail polish remover sold at J-mart, KILA fingernail polish remover retailed at JSF Co.,Ltd.and another Taiwan-made polish remover were found to have a methanol content rate of 40 percent. Suppliers of such products will be subject to a jail term of under one year, and a fine of under NT$150,000, and their products will be destroyed. CF officials said that if consumers absorb excessive methanol, they may suffer worsening eyesight, abdominal pain, mental disorder, fainting and even death. They warned that consumers are also apt to absorb acetone contained in the fingernail polish remover, and absorbing excessive amount of the substance will make consumers suffer from headaches, fainting, drowsiness, and mental and physical disorders.
