Over the past five years, the company has received an average of 4,700 requests per month that were linked to stomach ailments from Taiwanese travelers overseas.
The average number is 5,300 for the month in which the Lunar New Year holiday falls, the company said.
Japan, North America and Thailand are the three most popular travel destinations among Taiwanese people during the Lunar New Year holiday, according to the company.
In addition to stomach illnesses, other common reasons for medical assistance requests by Taiwanese include respiratory disease, cardiovascular disease, bone or muscle disease and accidents.
