Taiwan reports one more imported A(H1N1) flu case

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Taiwan has recorded another imported case of swine flu, officially known as influenza A(H1N1), a Department of Health (DOH) official said yesterday.

The confirmation of the case, which was diagnosed in a traveler arriving from Nicaragua, brought the total number of recorded A(H1N1) infections in Taiwan to 72, said Lin Ding, spokesman for the DOH's Center for Disease Control.

“Given Taiwan's ever-increasing interchanges with the international community, local people need not worry about imported A(H1N1) infections,” Lin said, adding that community cluster infections are of much greater concern.

However, community monitoring results show that the two cases of local infections reported so far were mild cases and did not reach the stage of cluster infections.
