Swine flu cases reach 55 with four new cases

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- The Central Epidemic Control Center yesterday announced four new cases of H1N1 influenza, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in Taiwan to fifty-five.

Two cases involved individuals returning from Thailand, while two others returned from the U.S.

Two Taiwanese women toured Thailand separately between June 8-13 and June 3-9. Both women developed flu symptoms while in Thailand. The two U.S. cases involve a fifty-seven-year-old woman and a sixteen-year-old student.

All four patients have been quarantined, and those who have come into close contact with them have also approached medical authorities for assistance.
