Her brother, Sheng-yi, who will go to junior high school this fall, has also been suffering from brain cancer since the second grade. Shan-ni was diagnosed with a brain tumor two years after their father died of cancer. She has since then had five operations, and she currently needs chemotherapy once a week. Because her brain tumor is inoperable, Sheng-yi has been receiving chemotherapy treatments. Their schooling has been frequently interrupted by their illness. The United Evening News cited Shan-ni as expressing a wish that they could fully recover and go to school as regularly as others. Shan-ni said it is her utmost wish to visit the Niagara Falls after seeing it on the Internet. They will be accompanied by their mother on the trip to Canada from Sept. 4 to 12. The mother has been unable to go to work as she has to take of her sick children. Subscribe to The China Post and save 25%. Click here |
