ns Wednesday after a packaging mix-up caused some to be filled with chocolate-covered nuts instead. The mislabeled packages pose a potential threat to children and people with nut allergies, the Albert Heijn supermarket chain said.
Spokeswoman Els van Dijk said the company was alerted to the problem last week and after consulting with the packaging company, decided to pull all boxes from the shelves.
She couldn't estimate the cost of the recall, but said it would involve "thousands" of boxes of the raisins, which bear the store's own label.
"It's a product with a large sales volume," she said. The company plans to run advertisements in newspapers Thursday urging customers to return all boxes with an expiration date of March 14 for a refund.
Albert Heijn is the Netherlands' largest supermarket chain, and is owned by global retailer Royal Ahold NV.
