When two becomes one
An officer on a jeep salutes soldiers in Kinmen, yesterday. Approximately 1,200 soldiers stood at attention during a ceremony in which two of Kinmen's brigades were merged into one, a recent order that was reportedly issued after tension eased in cross-strait relations. The newly integrated army was dubbed the "Kinmen Guard," which so far comprises 7,000 soldiers; however, the size of the force is expected to decrease. (CNA)
