Another Oct. 25 was more meaningful

TAOYUAN, Taiwan -- While a majority of our countrymen paid attention to Saturday’s mass rally that was co-sponsored by the Taiwan Solidarity Union and several pro-independence groups, I’d rather recall another meaningful “Oct. 25” in Taiwan’s history — that is “Retrocession Day.” This day is special to memorize [commemorate] Taiwan’s official turnover from the Japanese. It’s turning point for later development in our country.

Such a course of development should mean at least two things for us. First, powerful forces can protect our own country and family. Second, all countrymen should work together to defend our homeland. That is the only way to guard our democracy and freedom.
