Preventing slaughters requires looking at the problems’ roots

I was shocked to see the news of a man plowing a truck into shoppers and then stabbing 17 people within minutes, killing at least seven of them, in Tokyo because he got sick of the world.

As such incidents happen frequently, the government should adopt effective ways to solve them. The government of Japan is considering tightening regulations on the size of knives in order to prevent such attacks from happening again.

But is it a proper way to solve the problem? I don’t think so because the solution is just like someone having a headache where a doctor only gives the person an aspirin to relieve the headache temporarily but never inspects him or her carefully to get to the root cause of the illness.

Such slaughters may happen in our country because people are getting increasingly unsatisfied with politics, the economy, education, and so on more than ever before.

As any of above conditions may overwhelm people any time, the government should take precautions against such cases from happening in our country.

Now more and more people can’t tolerate the pressure of a slowing economy. For example, after a person graduates from college, he has to face realities like repaying a student’s loan immediately. However, if he is just making both ends meet and not earning enough to repay the loan the grim situation will continue like a circle. He may never know the deadline by when to repay the loan even though he works hard.

Our government must consider enacting policies to alleviate the situation because it may be related to a person’s life.

The government should have foresight and learn from the incident in Japan. It shouldn’t just wait for a similar incident from happening here first and only then find out a solution. A smart government is always a step ahead of the people and doesn’t follow things to work out first.
