Updated Monday, October 8, 2007 0:00 am TWN, Tai Yu, Yunlin Security breach should be a lesson for MNDAs a military dependent, I would like to say that the army has been doing very good security work, especially on information security. The military also has done its best to advocate conducting information and security work cautiously. For example, my brother is asked not to bring any official information back home or talk about any business concerning the military. Due to several Internet leak incidents in recent years, the use of the Internet in the military establishment is even stricter now. However, a single incident this time around doesn’t mean that the armed forces fail to pay attention to security work. But there is still something more desired on this front. Under Defense Minister Lee Tien-yu’s directions, the military has put in place stringent measures on security, and it continues to strengthen its staff appraisal operations to prevent further incidents of such disclosures. I hope the public does not deny the military’s role in defending the country while also focusing on security measures because of this incident. I also expect that the military will address the incident to further improve security measures. The incident also serves as a lesson for the Ministry of National Defense (MND) to plug loopholes. A crisis could be a turning point. As long as we face the music and thoroughly review such incidents, initiating follow-up preventive measures is not that difficult. | Letters Breaking News Most Read |
