Reports indicate that a China Southern Airlines (CSA, 南方航空) flight to Guilin (桂林) yesterday evening was delayed due to mechanical failure.
Pilots detected signs of mechanical failure while entering airspace above Taichung City, and promptly returned the aircraft to the Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport. All passengers and crew were reported to be safe as the aircraft landed in Taoyuan without incident beyond a slight delay in the itinerary. Reports indicate that that the aircraft's air conditioning system had failed.
Passengers reportedly had their dinner as the aircraft went through a thorough examination on the ground at Taoyuan. Ground crew later ruled that the aircraft's sensors had triggered a false alarm. As of 9:35 p.m., the aircraft is believed to be in sound condition, and expected to make the journey back to Guilin after refueling.
