Updated Monday, September 6, 2010 8:10 pm TWN, NEW DELHI, The Statesman India conveys its concernSources said Jaishankar also reiterated India's objections to the Chinese plan to build dams and other infrastructure projects in Pakistan-administered Kashmir. Jaishankar, who was in Delhi where he briefed the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and other senior ministers at a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) on Tuesday, returned to Beijing on Thursday, Sept. 2. The CCS meeting reviewed India-China relations and discussed options in dealing with what is seen in New Delhi as aggressive posturing by China on issues critical to India's sovereignty and territorial integrity. The New York Times in a report had claimed that around 11,000 Chinese troops were present in the Gilgit-Baltistan region administered by Pakistan. China, however, dismissed the report saying they were designed to hurt its ties with India. “We believe the attempts of some people to fabricate stories to provoke China-Pakistan or China-India relations are doomed to fail,” China's foreign ministry spokesperson Jiang Yu said in a brief statement. India's concerns have been heightened of late especially after Beijing's denial of visa to a senior army commander on grounds that his command included Jammu and Kashmir. It’s a real shocker because there is a buzz that china has making alliance with all the neighboring countries of India and reports of encircling of Indian territory has raised eyebrow of we Indians who were thinking that after creation of BRIC we are on constructive part for the betterment of the citizens of our countries. September 8, 2010 mohitgattu2005@ With each passing day, India is reducing its chances of retaining its allocated territory post independence. First it was the Islamic rulers (the now Pakistanis and Afghans) invading India followed by the Portuguese, French and the British (East India company). In 1947 Pakistan (east and west) was created to accommodate Muslims, what’s the point if most of those people stayed back. Look at the mess that has been created now. Just imagine if we did not have anything like a Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal. China would have been compelled to conflict India directly which would practically mean launching the offensive through Himalayas only. |
