Russia to build two more reactors in China's Tianwan nuclear plant

MOSCOW -- Russia has signed an agreement to build two more 1,000 megawatt reactors at China's Tianwan nuclear power plant, Russia's state-owned nuclear company Atomstroyexport said on Wednesday. Russia's first 1,000 megawatt nuclear reactor at Tianwan in eastern China went into operation in June 2007 after numerous delays, while a second went into operation in September of the same year.

"Blocks 3 and 4 will be built according to a design similar to the first phase of the Tianwan nuclear power station," Atomstroyexport said, adding that the framework agreement was signed on Tuesday. The company did not provide further details.
