Updated Tuesday, November 17, 2009 9:46 am TWN, The China Post news staff China group makes NT$1.25 bil. orderThe purchases by the All China Federation of Supply and Marketing Cooperatives (China Co-op), China's largest and most important logistic organization, will include fresh fruit and vegetables, fishery and agricultural processed products. The deals will start with the buying of five thousand tons of fruit next year. The state-owned China Co-op, the country's main institute that deals with the transportation and sales of agricultural products from China and abroad, has 220,000 outposts, 3.67 million employees and 50,000 affiliated businesses in the country; and is the most sought-after customer for countries wanting to enter the Chinese market, Chang Su-san, director-general of Department of International Affairs of the Council of Agriculture (COA) pointed out. In the past year, the COA has actively worked with China Co-op to establish long-term and intensified sales channels for Taiwan products. The COA invited China Co-op delegations from 12 Chinese provinces to visit Taiwan Nov. 15-22. Yesterday the delegations signed purchase contracts totaling NT$1.25 billion with Taiwan farmers and businesses from areas including Taipei, Yilan, Taichung and Chunghwa. Among the deals, China Co-op will purchase five thousand tons of fruits, including oranges, pineapples, sugar-apples, starfruits, ponkans and dates from Taiwan next year, three thousand tons of which will be from Taipei Agricultural Products Marketing Corp., Taiwan's biggest fruit wholesale organization.
