Obama to meet China's Hu at Group of Eight summit

WASHINGTON -- U.S. President Barack Obama will meet China's President Hu Jintao on the sidelines of the Group of Eight summit in Italy next week, a senior White House official said on Wednesday.

The U.S. leader will hold a bilateral meeting with Hu at the talks, at which China will be present as a member of the G-8 plus Five grouping of developed and developing economies, Obama advisor Denis McDonough told reporters.

Obama and Hu met for the first time since the U.S. president took office in London, on April 1, ahead of the G-20 economic crisis summit.
