Roach says China may allow yuan to rise as much as four percent per year

LONDON -- China will allow the yuan to rise as much as four percent per year against the dollar, Morgan Stanley Asia Ltd. Chairman Stephen S. Roach said.

The Chinese have given “some strong indications they want to go back to a gradual appreciation against the dollar,” Roach said on Bloomberg Radio Monday. “They will go back to a gradual appreciation” of about “three to four percent per year against the dollar.”
