VW might produce new Golf model in China“We are thinking about producing the new Golf in China,” Winfried Vahland, head of VW’s China operations, told the German business magazine Wirtschaftswoche. “I believe there is a market for hatchback cars of this class” in China, he said. “Chinese tastes and preferences are changing rapidly. As a manufacturer, we have to look ahead.” Chinese in the past have gone for sedan-type cars. This year Volkswagen expects to sell 800,000 cars in China, more than ever before. Volkswagen plans to launch its new Golf VI in Europe in the autumn of 2008. It is not a completely new model but a major restyling of the current Golf V that was introduced in 2003. | |||||||||||||
