TOKYO -- Japanese and Chinese airlines began services between Tokyo’s Haneda and Shanghai’s Hongqiao airports Saturday, airport officials said. The new services marked the 35th anniversary of the normalization of bilateral diplomatic relations. The two governments signed a joint statement normalizing ties on Sept. 29, 1972.
Japan Airlines, All Nippon Airways, China Eastern Airlines and Shanghai Airlines each launched a daily roundtrip flight between the two cities.
