Brilliance China falls on earnings potential concerns

HONG KONG/BEIJING -- Brilliance China Automotive Holdings Ltd., the Chinese partner of Bayerische Motoren Werke AG, fell the most in more than a month in Hong Kong trading on concern that the company had risen above its earnings potential. The automaker fell as much as 9.9 percent and traded at 6.1 percent lower at HK$1.99 as of 12:16 p.m. Monday. Its shares have gained 51 percent this year, beating a 32 percent rise in the city’s benchmark Hang Seng Index.

The company reported a wider first-half loss after a financial write-off related to convertible bonds eroded gains from higher vehicle sales.
