MediaTek's sales for January increase by over 11 percent

TAIPEI -- MediaTek Inc., one of Taiwan's leading integrated circuit designers, said yesterday that its consolidated sales posted in January rose more than 11 percent from December on the back of inventory restocking in China ahead of the upcoming Lunar New Year holiday.

Last month, MediaTek's consolidated sales for January rose 11.47 percent from a month earlier to NT$8.45 billion, rebounding from a 12.38 percent month-on-month decline recorded in December last year, when the IC designer's sales fell to NT$7.58 billion, marking a 10-month low.

The January figure was also up 63.88 percent from a year earlier as inventory was raised to meet a buying spree during the holiday period.
