Siemens launches Technology and Application CenterThe China Post news staff TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Siemens on Wednesday formally inaugurated its Technology and Application Center (TAC) in Taichung. Besides introducing Siemens' world leading experience in machine tools and assisting in forging high-end machine tool technology applications that are increasingly demanded by domestic and international producers, the TAC also intends to work with colleges, universities and training agencies to help cultivate expertise in this field.

Enhancing machine tool-applied technology has consistently been an objective of Taiwan's machine tool industry in its bid to move into the high-end processing of the industry and boost added value. Siemens and Taiwan's machine tool industry have forged a close relationship over the years, and the company understands the competitive pressures facing the industry here, as well as the urgency for breakthroughs in the capabilities of technology applications. As the technology partner, Siemens has exhibited its determination to collaborate with Taiwan's machine tool sector. In addition, Vice Economics Minister Woody Duh, during his tenure as Director-General of the Industrial Development Bureau, specially visited Siemens headquarters in Germany to pursue collaboration in this respect. Duh's efforts proved crucial in paving the way for the establishing of the TAC. |
