Sony launches new Xperia Z, ZL five-inch smartphones in Taiwan

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Sony yesterday held the Taiwan launch of its new smartphones, the Xperia Z and ZL, which received rave reviews at the Consumer Electronics Show held in Las Vegas.

Both models are 5-inch phones powered by the Android operating system. The Xperia X will hit the market in the first quarter and XL in the second, Sony said.

The firm also expressed its confidence that this year Sony will become the second largest player in Taiwan's branded smartphone market.
