Financial situation in Taiwan not to be worried about: Cathay FinancialThe China Post news staff TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Cathay Financial Holding yesterday urged investors not to worry about Taiwan's financial situation, after stock trade volume shrank in December.
January 8, 2013, 12:16 am TWN “Stock transaction is one of the chief factors for determining the soundness of Taiwan's financial situation,” the firm said. “If trade volume stays above NT$80 billion everyday, Taiwan's financial situation will still remain stable. Investors do not have to worry too much.” It also gave an upbeat outlook for Taiwan's economy this year, citing three chief reasons. First, China's procurement managers' index in December reached its highest since May 2011. Second, the fiscal cliff crisis in the United States was resolved. Third, the European debt crisis has eased. “As long as the government moves forward with its stimulus measures and investment projects, there is indeed a chance growth this year will hit 3.88 percent,” Cathay said. |
