IPad mini, latest iPad, iPhone 5 to hit stores in Taiwan simultaneously

TAIPEI -- Apple Inc.'s two new tablet computers — the iPad mini and the fourth-generation iPad — are scheduled to hit Taiwan simultaneously, along with the new iPhone 5, a major Apple-authorized chain seller said yesterday.

The Wi-Fi models will first be available at various shops from the following day, although the local prices had not yet been confirmed by Apple, said Data Express.

The starting prices of the 7.9-inch iPad mini and the new iPad with retina display are listed at US$329 and US$499 on Apple's website.

The store said it was not clear when the devices will be available through local telecom carriers.
