Western Union & Ta Chong Bank team up on money-transfer service

Western Union, a leader in global payment services, recently announced the launch of Western Union Money Transfer services at Ta Chong Bank's 67 branches across Taiwan, significantly expanding the company's network in a fast-growing market.

The services, inaugurated on Nov. 14, connect Ta Chong Bank's domestic network covering the entire island with Western Union's 510,000 locations around the world. Ta Chong Bank also intends to activate Western Union Money Transfer Services directly from bank accounts via its online banking portal.

Justin Tsai, president of Ta Chong Bank, said: "We are delighted to join one of the world's largest money-transfer networks. As more people from Taiwan move and travel abroad and more global workers and tourists are present in Taiwan, there will be increasing demand for international remittance services."

"As a bank committed to service excellence, expanding our services in keeping with what consumers want in an increasingly globalized economy is a priority," he said.

"It is a privilege to work with Ta Chong Bank, a well-respected and innovative financial institution in Taiwan. Adding Ta Chong Bank to our retail network and exploring additional electronic channels is an important step toward our goal of offering consumers more convenience," said Patricia Riingen, senior vice president, East and South Asia, Western Union.

"Globally, we are combining our traditional strengths with electronic operations to meet the needs of today's consumers, who require more options across different technologies," she said.
