HTC Q4 sales likely to increase slightly on year-end buying spree

TAIPEI -- Taiwan-based smart phone vendor HTC Corp. is expected to post slightly higher consolidated sales for the fourth quarter of this year, when traditional Christmas buying sprees take place in the U.S. and European markets, Mega International Investment Service Corp. said yesterday.

In a research note, the investment advisory company said HTC is likely to post NT$73.78 billion in consolidated sales for the fourth quarter, up about 5 percent from a quarter earlier, on the back of new model launches to attract buying.

HTC has scheduled an investor conference for today during which the smartphone maker is expected to give sales guidance for the fourth quarter and possibly disclose how its newly unveiled models have been received in the market.
