British official unemployment up to 7.8% in 3 months to Dec.

LONDON -- Britain's unemployment rate edged higher to 7.8 percent in the three months to the end of December from 7.7 percent in the three months to the end of November, official data showed on Wednesday.

The number of unemployed people rose to 2.50 million from 2.49 million over the same period, the Office for National Statistics added in a statement.
