British car sales hit 4-year high in 2012: official dataAFP LONDON--Sales of new cars in Britain accelerated last year to more than two million vehicles, reaching the highest level since 2008 on the back of solid consumer demand, industry data showed on Monday.

That marked a gain of 5.3 percent, the biggest annual percentage increase since 2001.
